These highly technique that were hard to believe to be the made by human’s hand. Kyo Satsuma was produced from the Meiji period to the beginning of the Showa period and produced many masterpieces, but its history ended during the Depression and World War II. Kyoto painter Mrs. Kunyo was fascinated by "Kyo-satsuma" and paints miniature paintings as her own expression. Her paintings are astonishing because they are drawn with such delicate coloring that they cannot be seen with the naked eye. This incense burner was sculpted by a Satsuma-ceramist in Kagoshima Prefecture, and the openwork cover is decorated with a butterfly motif. The incense burner and base are decorated with paintings without margins. Kyo Satsuma which was said to be impossible to reproduce, has been reborn in a new form by a contemporary master craftsman.
